Scholarships

Healthy Vision Association (HVA) awards scholarships of up to $2,500 each to students attending one of the 21 optometry schools in the United States and meeting the criteria listed at the link below. Up to 20 scholarships will be awarded each year. They are based on grade point average, extracurricular activities, and a required essay. If you are eligible, make sure you submit an application.

A Team With Purpose

Our mission is to provide blind or visually impaired youths and adults the opportunity to participate fully in the sport of Blind Hockey.

Our program focus is on the successful development of skating and hockey skills while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, competition and an overall love for the game.

Sponsorship Partner:

Our goal is to create an active hockey community for both recreational and competitive players with skills and ability to participate in games regionally and nationally with the other U.S. and Canadian Blind Hockey organizations.

Blues Blind Hockey wrapped up their 2023–2024 season on March 30th. We have enjoyed a season long focus on the kids and hope to bring more youth to the ice next season.

We are excited that one of our original kids, Josh Fields, who just turned 18, was invited to play for Team USA. His first games were a three-game series against Team Canada, hosted at the Centene Community Ice Center in St Louis, MO, April 12–14.

Josh started with Blues Blind Hockey at our very first Try Blind Hockey event, having never played hockey, at the age of 12. Once he discovered there was a US National Team, he set his goal to play for the USA. Over the past two years Josh has attended the selection and training camp and was thrilled to receive the call up on March 6th.
